Laura graduated from James Cook University in 2019 and moved to the Gold Coast to complete an internship at Veterinary Specialist Services. Laura joined our team in 2021 bringing a wealth of knowledge having been involved with complex cases at the specialist hospital. She has a keen interest in surgery and internal medicine and values staying up to date with the latest gold standard recommendations. She is particularly passionate about educating owners whose pets have complex or chronic health issues so they can best manage them.

Laura is originally from North Queensland, which unfortunately makes her an avid Cowboys supporter! When she isn’t at work you’ll find her at the beach, reading, hosting boardgames night or buying something else she doesn’t need for her much loved ragdoll cat, Cowboy.

Rob qualified as a veterinarian in South Africa in 2010 and now calls Australia home. He is an excellent surgeon and brings a wealth of experience to our veterinary team. He is passionate about animal health and wellbeing and strives to help clients do the best that they can for their pets. He enjoys spending time with his family and making the most of Australia’s outdoor lifestyle.

Shirleen is a South African–born veterinarian, having graduated from the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort, in 2011. She has been lucky enough to work with all kinds of animals over the years — from small pets to large animals, and even wildlife during her time practicing in South Africa. She also had the opportunity to run her own vet clinic before making the move to Australia in 2022.

Her family now calls the Gold Coast home, and she absolutely loves the outdoor lifestyle that it offers. She lives here with her husband and their two kids, and last year they added two stray kittens to the family — who have definitely made themselves at home!

Shirleen really enjoys getting to know both pets and their owners, and she is passionate about providing care and down-to-earth veterinary support for animals of all shapes and sizes.

Mary-Anne is a South African veterinarian who graduated from Onderstepoort in 2012. She has since gained experience practicing in South Africa and the United Kingdom, before settling in Australia. Mary-Anne joined the Gold Coast Vet Surgery team in November 2020. She enjoys working with all small animals and loves meeting new patients while building lasting relationships with their owners. Outside of work, Mary-Anne leads an active lifestyle with her husband, who is also a veterinarian.

Together they have two young children, as well as a dog named Gary and a cat named Chicken. In her spare time, she enjoys competing in triathlons, while her husband is an avid marathon runner.

Kevin trained as a vet in South Africa and graduated from the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort in 1998 and he also has an Honours degree in zoology. Since graduating Kevin has enjoyed helping animals around the world having worked in South Africa, the UK and Australia. He has a particular interest in geriatric pet care and managing complex cases. Kevin also gets a lot of satisfaction in helping to manage and relieve the discomfort of frustrating cases that may not be curable, such as skin allergies and ear complaints, that nowadays can be very well controlled. Kevin is passionate about owners being able to understand what is wrong with their pet and what their options are to solve or manage the problem. When not treating patients he enjoys spending time with his wife, Fiona, and their three sons, as well as their two dogs, ‘Todd’ the Golden Retriever and ‘Toby’ the Maltese/Shitzhu cross and their two cats ‘Inky’ and ‘Narchie’ and he also enjoys marathon running, hiking and scuba diving.

Fiona graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort, in 1998. Dr Fiona and Dr Kevin graduated from vet school together and were married soon after. Fiona has a wealth of experience through her work in South Africa, the UK and Australia. She has a particular soft spot for Golden Retrievers. One Golden retriever travelled the world with her from South Africa to London and then to Darwin. Whilst she loves dogs, Fiona also has a passion for cats and their medical problems, especially infectious diseases. She enjoys spending time with her 3 incredible sons, enjoying travelling, nature, wildlife and sport. But she is a slave to 2 beautiful cats, the most dedicated Maltese/Shitzhu and of course Todd, the demanding Golden Retriever! Having experienced the joys of having many pets but also the devastation of losing them, Fiona is a very empathetic and compassionate vet, with a deep understanding of the special bond we have with our pets. UNFORTUNATELY DR FIONA IS CURRENTLY NOT CONSULTING.

Nicole is the friendly voice that you will often speak to on Reception. Nicole moved to Australia with 2 dogs & 3 cats in June 2011. Prior to this she worked in a small animal practice in Auckland, NZ for 6yrs whilst also volunteering at Auckland Zoo. During this time Nicole was also part of numerous cat rescue organisations. Nicole has a particular interest in exotic animals such as birds & reptiles and she volunteered at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s Vet Clinic before joining our team. Meeting the clients & getting to know their furry friends is one of the highlights of her day! Nicole will go out of her way to organise your visit in the most convenient and stress free way possible and is your point of call for any special orders. Outside of work Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband Rick and their 3 dogs.

Tracey is one of the helpful voices that you might speak to on Reception when you first call us. Tracey was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia where she enjoyed a 30 year career in the hospitality industry working in hotels and resorts all over Australia. This gave her amazing opportunities to travel to exciting and “bucket list” destinations all over the world. Looking for a career change, in 2024, she decided to join the veterinary industry, working on reception as part of the client care team. Tracey joined Gold Coast Vet Surgery in 2025 and loves welcoming all clients and their fur and feather babies to the practice and she enjoys all the snuggles along the way.

Caitlan completed her Veterinary Technician Diploma in 2007 at Seneca College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After relocating to Australia in January 2011, she joined our team as a dedicated and highly valued veterinary nurse.

She has a strong interest in laboratory diagnostics and particularly enjoys surgical nursing, where her attention to detail and calm approach shine. Caitlan’s passion for animal care began early, volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation centre near London, Ontario. There, she gained hands-on experience caring for native Canadian wildlife, including white-tailed deer, raccoons, skunks, owls, squirrels, and a variety of bird species.

Caitlan is passionate about building strong, trusting relationships with clients and takes pride in helping them feel confident and supported in their pets’ care. She also enjoys mentoring and supporting newer members of the team, sharing her knowledge and helping them grow in their roles.

At home, Caitlan lives with her husband Brendan and their two boys. Their family is completed by Abigail, their sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and Pancho and Penelope, their cheeky little Chihuahuas.

Chelsea grew up on the southern Gold Coast and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2012. Her love for animals began early, having grown up with Burmese cats in the family home. She now shares her life with a cheeky Burmese named Nixon, a foster-fail cat Gigi, a mini dachshund Elki, and a French bulldog Mowgli—giving her a particular soft spot for these breeds. Chelsea has a special interest in nursing brachycephalic breeds and their unique anaesthetic requirements. With a strong passion for both medical and surgical nursing, she spends much of her time in theatre and caring for hospitalised patients.
Outside of work, Chelsea is a busy mum to four boys.

Kim was born in Brisbane and has been working as a Veterinary Nurse since 2002. She completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2006. She worked at her former clinic in Brisbane for 15 years, before making the move to the beautiful Gold Coast and joining our team in 2017. Being able to work with animals everyday compensates for her not having any pets. She does, however, have two gorgeous children instead. Kim’s love for animals started at the age of two on her Nan and Pop’s farm in New Zealand, where she would help her Pop herd the sheep around the paddocks!

Ana has been working as a veterinary nurse at Gold Coast Vet Surgery since 2024 and loves caring for our patients and their families. Originally from Brazil, Ana moved to Australia with her partner in 2024. She qualified as a veterinarian in Brazil, with a special interest in diagnostic imaging and is particularly knowledgeable on diagnostic ultrasounds. She finds it fascinating how much insight we can gain about our patients’ medical conditions by being able to look inside, which is especially helpful since they can’t tell us how they feel! Her passion for veterinary medicine was inspired by her pet poodle who lived to an amazing age of 18.

Kylieanne was born and raised in a small town called Lae in Papua New Guinea. Her love for animals started as a child, caring for sick cats and dogs back home. She knew she had to turn her passion into a career, which led her to move to the Gold Coast to study and become a Veterinary Nurse. Although she does not currently have pets of her own, she truly values the opportunity to provide care, comfort, and affection to the animals that she works with.

Outside of work, Kylieanne embraces the healthy, active lifestyle on the Gold Coast and enjoys keeping fit, often spending time at the gym and going for runs. She lives in beautiful Mermaid Beach, where she enjoys the beach and watching the sunrise. She also loves travelling and spending quality time with her husband.

Patricia has loved animals, especially dogs, for as long as she can remember. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to become a veterinarian. She graduated as a Veterinarian in Brazil and moved to Australia in 2018 to begin a new chapter in her life. Since 2023, Patricia has been working as a Veterinary Nurse in Australia. While in Brazil, she also completed further studies in canine and feline dermatology, developing a special interest in skin health. In her spare time, Patricia loves travelling, spending time at the beach and going to the gym. She is also a proud dog mum to her adopted Pug, Boss, who holds a very special place in her heart.
