Awards
Gold Coast Vet Surgery is proud to announce that we are now
an ASAVA accredited Hospital of Excellence. Gold Coast Vet Surgery is the only accredited veterinary hospital
on the Gold Coast, and one of only two accredited veterinary hospitals in
Queensland.

The Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association (ASAVA)
Hospitals of Excellence scheme is a voluntary accreditation that provides for an independent assessment
of the standards in veterinary clinics around Australia. To pass accreditation
vet clinics need to meet rigorous standards across all aspects of veterinary care, including the hospital
facilities, patient care, customer service, record keeping, policies and procedures, health and safety,
staff training and even down to cleaning procedures! Being accredited as a Hospital of Excellence gives
pet owners the assurance that their pet is being looked after according to “Best Practice” standards in a
clinic that has the necessary equipment and skills to provide gold standard patient care. Across
Australia, only 38 vet clinics meet these high standards.
At Gold Coast vet Surgery we pride ourselves on the high
standard of patient care and customer service that we provide day in and day out to the pets of the Gold
Coast. Becoming a Hospital of Excellence has been a long term aspiration of Dr Kevin & Dr Fiona
Cruickshank, husband and wife owners of Gold Coast Vet Surgery.

The ASAVA Hospital of Excellence accreditation plaque
was presented to Gold Coast Vet Surgery
at the Annual Gala Dinner of the Australian Small Animal Veterinary
Association
on Thursday 13 August 2015.
In August 2010 we
were again nominated in the
"Best Vet Clinic" category in the 2010 Paws & Claws Awards
and were very proud to be announced as
runners up.
....... in 2009 Gold Coast Vet Surgery was
voted "Best Vets in SE QLD" !!!!
We are very proud to
announce that we were voted
"Best Vet" in SE QLD in
the 2009 Paws & Claws Awards.
Thank you to all our wonderful clients, suppliers,
friends & family who voted for us.
Your Support Is VERY Much
Appreciated.
We are very proud to have
been twice voted BEST VET in the prestigious Paws & Claws Awards for Charity. Whilst awards aren’t our
goal, it’s nice to be appreciated and acknowledged for the hard work that the team puts into patient care and
customer service.
As a “people’s choice”
award (it was voted for by pet owners from across the Gold Coast, rather than decided by a panel of judges)
it is an endorsement to us that pet owners want, and appreciate, a personal, first class, value for money
healthcare service for their pets. This is what we at Gold Coast Vet Surgery will always strive to
deliver.
The Paws and Claws Awards
are organised by the popular Paws and Claws magazine and all proceeds from the event are donated to
charity.

2008 Paws & Claws Awards
Thank you to everyone who so enthusiastically voted for us - the 2008 Paws and Claws Awards
were announced at a gala dinner awards ceremony at the Surfers Paradise Marriot Resort on
Saturday 16th of August 2008. Gold Coast Vet Surgery was proudly represented with 3 nominations
- Dr Kevin Cruickshank for "Best Vet" and nurses Jenny Garrett and Olivia Gerry both nominated
as "Best Vet Nurse".
Thanks to the hundreds of votes we received from our happy family of clients we were very proud
to have all 3 nominees announced as runners up finalists in the respective categories. Out of
44 vet practices nominated, and as a small independent clinic, we are very proud of this
achievement that would not have been possible without the fantastic support of our fantastic
clients. Congratulations to our colleague Dr Rowan Kilmartin, voted the winner of the "Best
Vet" category.
We are also particularly proud of our nurses achievements - we were the only practice with two
nurses in the Top 5 and in our eyes they are the best vet nurses.
Gold Coast Community Honours Awards
On Wednesday 24th of September 2008 Dr Kevin Cruickshank was very humbled to attend the Gold
Coast Honours Awards organised by the Gold Coast Bulletin, where he had been nominated in the
Business Category. Thank you to all for your support and encouragement after the article in the
Gold Coast Bulletin in this regard. In the company of some very worthy and esteemed nominees,
many of whom have provided a life time of service to the Gold Coast community, Kevin was very
proud to be awarded a Gold Coast Honours Silver Pin for a "Work and business ethic that
epitomises the spirit of Australia".
2007 Paws & Claws Awards
The inaugural Paws & Claws awards were presented in August 2007 at a Black Tie Gala
Dinner in the Ballroom at the Holiday Inn, Surfers Paradise. Gold Coast Vet Surgery was very
proud to be the first recipients of this prestigious award, only 9 months after new owners Drs
Kevin and Fiona Cruickshank took over the reigns.
